Privacy notice

Last updated: 31 October 2026

The short version: we collect as little as we can. The rest of this page explains, question by question, what LickFlix (www.lickflix.com, “we”, “us”) stores about you, why it does, and how to get it changed or removed.

What happens when I just watch?

Nothing that needs an account. The site runs no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics scripts. Our web servers write a line to a log file for each request: your IP address, the time, the page you asked for and your browser type. We need those logs to keep the site safe and to fix problems. They are deleted after 7 days. From the same logs we count visits as totals per day (for example pages viewed, country and type of device), using a coded visitor number instead of an IP address. To count video views fairly, and to rank popular searches, we use a one-way coded form of your IP address that is thrown away within about a day. Search phrases are never linked to you.

Do you set cookies?

Only in two cases. When you log in, you get a session cookie that holds your login, plus a second, tiny cookie whose only job is to make our pages show your account. Both are needed for logging in. They run out about 30 days after your last visit, and logging out removes them straight away.

When you press like or dislike without an account, you get one cookie holding a random number. It contains nothing about you, lasts one year and is only sent to the part of the site that handles votes. With your vote we keep a one-way coded copy of both that number and your IP address, so nobody can vote on the same video twice.

What stays in my own browser?

Some things never reach our servers. Your browser keeps your watch history, your Watch later list, your last few searches, the videos you voted on, and your settings for dark mode and the side menu. You can clear them yourself at any time, for example by clearing the site data in your browser.

What do you keep when I make an account?

Your e-mail address, your username and a hash of your password. We never see the password itself. We also keep what you do with the account: favourites, likes, the channels you subscribe to, your comments, and when you were last active. All of that is used to run your account and nothing else.

What about the forms?

A message or a copyright notice is stored with everything you typed into it, your name and e-mail address among them, so we can deal with it. We add a one-way coded form of your IP address and your browser type to stop abuse. We may pass a copyright notice on to the producer of the video it is about.

Who else handles my data?

Pages reach you through Cloudflare, a content delivery network that processes request data for us. The videos themselves load from third-party video networks, and they see your IP address as your browser fetches a video. We never sell personal data to anyone.

How do I see, fix or delete my data?

Ask us through the contact form. For anything about your account, pick the topic "My account". You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or the removal of your account and everything linked to it. Depending on the country you live in, you may also be able to complain to your data protection authority.

Will this policy change?

It may. Check the date at the top to see which version you are reading.
